Plumpton Braves go to Toronto!
Toronto, Newcastle that is and not to be confused with the Canadian, Toronto.

Each year, the Toronto Tigers Baseball Club has a Masters Tournament for over 35’s.
(I just make it by the way.) This is held the last weekend in September.

Most of us go up either on the Friday or Saturday and stay at a caravan park and socialize. Maybe too much socializing sometimes as on the Sunday you are expected to play 4, one hour games of baseball.

Not only are you expected to play 4 games, but there is a compulsory port for each player before each game. Throw in a few beers….well you get the picture.
Make sure you have a designated driver when attending events like this.

The result was we lost 3 and drew 1. And a fantastic time was had by all!
A special thank you to Karen Grant and Meredith Wilson for stepping up and making up the numbers. We usually have 12-13 players, but a few had other commitments this weekend.

I have checked our club data base, and we have around 22 on our register that are over 35, so maybe next year we could aim for 2 teams.

Watch this space for more detail as the time grows closer for 2009!

Ian
