PLAYER TIPS

Always go to the batting box wanting to HIT, it is a bad pitch or coach’s signal that says NO.

When batting always take signal before each pitch standing OUTSIDE the batting box.

When becoming a base runner always take signals standing on the base bag.

All signals end with a key signal, DO NOT look away earlier.

Unless directed to do otherwise NEVER swing on a 3Balls 0Strike count.

When base running take primary lead 3 1/2 crow hops.

When base running take secondary lead 5 1/2 crow hops after the pitch.

Always steal when on 1st or 2nd (if next base unoccupied) if the pitcher takes a full wind up pitch.

When on 3rd base ALWAYS make sure the pitcher knows you are there.

If you do not understand a signal CALL TIME and ASK.

When the base runner is stealing give some protection, set for a FAKE BUNT.

When batting and you see the base runner getting a good jump of the pitch, do not swing; give him a chance to get the steal.

When on defensive ALWAYS know the next play ahead of the play.

Once you make a play ERROR do not try to make it up, turning one (1) error into two (2).

Make one (1) play at a time; make sure the first play comes off.

When fielding, call every play and outs OUTLOUD, everyone should acknowledge.

Back up every play possible:

2nd return from catcher to pitcher

3rd return from 1st base to pitcher

Pitcher back 3rd with base runner on 1st

Pitcher backs up home with base runner on 2nd or 3rd

Right field covers 1st on an attempted pick off pitcher to 1st

Centre field covers 2nd on an attempted pick off pitcher to 2nd

Left field cover 3rd on an attempted pick off catcher to 3rd

Shortstop covers 2nd on a catcher to 2nd play

2nd covers 2nd on a pick off, catcher to SS back to home plate.

Run down plays:

3rd to home, 3rd and SS with pitcher and catcher

2nd to 3rd - 3rd and catcher with 2nd and SS, pitcher covers home plate

1st to 2nd - 2nd and SS with 1st and pitcher

Always practice to the fullest.

Always slide into 2nd, 3rd or home UNLESS the base coach holds you up.
